I get it. It makes sense what has been said in the past and was a prevailing thought of church building during what was called the “seeker sensitive” movement. I’m not a hater by the way. Like most things there were pros and cons to the ideology. For full disclosure my early days of pastoral ministry was influenced by and trained under what most would call seeker sensitive type church. Like most things pertaining to modern church strategies I’m learning to eat the meat and spit out the bones. Before I go on to my main takeaway, in a positive sense about that ideology, is that church doesn’t have to be brutal. It’s good to consider everyone’s collective experience and in some ways try to contextualize our ministry to the people we are called to serve.
