Prosperity Isn’t a Dirty Word
I’ll save my full thoughts on using AI for another article. But as someone who uses ChatGPT often, I do it with a healthy amount of caution.

her day I was looking for scholarly works on the biblical idea of prospering. The key word is scholarly. I wasn’t looking for inspirational quotes or popular opinion. I wanted legitimate scholarship.
The first response I got? A derogatory comment that included the phrase “prosperity gospel.” In other words, it picked up on the spirit of the age where any teaching on blessing, prospering, or abundance gets met with criticism and cynicism.
Side note: I argue with AI more than I probably should. I feel like it’s my civic duty to push back on misconceptions. ChatGPT doesn’t have original thoughts it just mines the cesspool of the internet and gives you the average of what’s out there.
I asked it, “If ‘prosperity gospel’ is bad, does that make you ‘poverty gospel’?”
To its credit, ChatGPT backed up and shifted its response. And after some pushback, I found legitimate scholarship on the topic.
